Rep. Stanley’s Letter to the Editor in the Waltham News Tribune

Dear friends,

I am running for re-election to the House of Representatives in the 2016 state election on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th.  Serving as your state representative is an honor and privilege. Working to make a difference, seeing the results and the positive impact this work has had on so many is amazing. But, our work is not done.

I have not just recently become interested in serving our community.  Year after year I have fought on the front lines of every state and local issue facing Waltham.  During this time I have also helped hundreds of constituents navigate government bureaucracy so that it works for the residents it is meant to serve.

Throughout my service, I have balanced fiscal responsibility while prioritizing support for social issues and programs that improve our lives and strengthen our community.  Standing up for women’s rights and against discrimination of all kinds is a responsibility I have taken seriously.  As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I helped to create a budget which brings state spending in line with revenue growth, reduces reliance upon onetime budget solutions, avoids income tax increases and limits Stabilization Fund withdrawals. We did this while delivering millions of dollars for Waltham projects and local aid, road repair and public education funding to municipalities.

Funding for Waltham’s new schools, Hardy Pond restoration, traffic signalization coordination, housing assistance and passage of legislation for the Western Greenway, Fernald protection and purchase, and the proposed Urban Center for Sustainability are just a few of the results from working with residents and advocates.

The issues facing Waltham are complex.  We need an experienced and effective Representative that has demonstrated leadership and accomplishment at the state and local level. In this year‘s election, I ask for your support and vote so that we can continue to move forward and build stronger and safer communities for everyone.

If you need a ride to the polls, or if you need information on where and when to vote, please call my cell phone at 617.529.4279 or email me at tom@tomstanley.org.

It is a great honor and privilege to serve you on the state level.  Please vote for me on November 8th.

Sincerely,

Tom Stanley
