Rep. Stanley Urges Passes of HEROES Act

In a letter to Cong. Katherine Clark, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Ed Markey, Rep. Stanley urged Congress to pass The HEROES Act, providing essential support to our state and local governments, including public schools and colleges. This critically important legislation would provide $900 billion for state and local fiscal relief and an additional $100 billion in emergency aid for public education, from pre-K through college.
In the letter, Rep. Stanley stressed the importance of working together to ensure the continued investment in the Commonwealth’s public schools and colleges. Many public-school districts and campuses have already announced layoffs and furloughs due to budget concerns and in the absence of a swift and robust response from both the federal and state governments, further cuts to personnel and services will follow. Now more than ever, our students deserve access to a high-quality public education that meets their academic, and social and emotional needs.
