Stanley’s statement on selling of Banks School

Statement from Candidate Tom Stanley on City Hall’s selling of Banks School Property:

“I am glad that the Mayor has finally decided to take action in selling the Banks School Property. Unfortunately, this decision comes ten years too late, and at the cost of $5 million dollars in renovations, unknown costs to utilities and electrical maintenance, and most incredibly, ten years of lost property tax revenue.

When the city initially had the opportunity, I proposed selling the Banks School. Just this past December I was joined by my colleague Councilor Paul Brasco in once again calling upon the mayor to take this action because it was the fiscally responsible thing to do.
Tax payers need to be able to rely on City Hall to make smart investments with their money and as Mayor, I will foster growth through thoughtful economic planning.”
